The Placebo Effect
It's just not the case with Reiki.
I became a Reiki Master in 1993, having begun training in 1991.
Over the years, a number of people have claimed the relaxing and healing benefits of
a Reiki session are little more than a placebo effect.
A study done through the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine and published on National Institute of Health’s website reports otherwise:

I realize that it is difficult to have a control group in a Reiki experiment, if there are trained practitioners providing a treatment to one group and others who are not trained in Reiki providing hands-on work to a second group, BOTH groups could experience some relief from uncomfortable symptoms as most people have a degree of natural healing energy.
